A Parable Against Them

We are at a section of Mark where Jesus publicly presents himself as Messiah. And as Messiah he has a pretty different vision for Temple worship than the religious leaders did (like throwing everyone out of the temple confines!). This puts him in a position of antagonism with the religious leaders of the day…who see Jesus as an enemy, a blasphemer.
They challenge Jesus…not with a frontal assault accusing his theology. Instead, they ask him to defend himself by challenging his authority.
Jesus tells a story. Mark says that he told it against them (Mark 12:12). And they understood. So the Jerusalem drama continues…all the way to the cross. Verses: Mark 11:27 – 12:12
